Coriander Chutney

I’ve sat down to share some easy recipes for the most special month of the year – Ramadan. There are lots of dishes we only make and eat during this blessed month and many people, like myself, are always looking for ways to add flavour to our food. This Coriander Chutney is amazing and will definitely add a kick to your favourite snacks.

The chutney itself is easy to prepare and will keep for up to one week when stored in an airtight container in the fridge, however it always tastes best made fresh on the day and should be enjoyed at room temperature.

Use it as a dipping sauce for Samosas, Pakoras, Dali Boras, Kebabs or spread it on your buns for your Chicken Steak Burgers or even pour some into your Chicken Shawarma to spice it up. How about adding it over your nachos for a desi twist? There are countless ways to use this sauce and you can try it out on whatever takes your fancy, I quite like it as a spread in a sarnie!

Here’s what you’ll need;

You will need: for Coriander Chutney

1 bunch of fresh coriander
1/2 thumb sized piece of ginger
3 green chillies
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin (jeera) seeds
1 tbsp oil
3 tbsp lemon juice
3 – 4 tbsp water

Method:

Coriander Chutney

  1. Peel your ginger, I used half of the piece shown in the photo. Roughly chop the coriander (so it’s easier to blend) then add all of the listed ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Add extra water, one tablespoon at a time, if you feel the chutney is too thick. It should neither be too thick not too runny as the taste will otherwise become diluted.
  3.  Enjoy with your favourite snacks.

Lovely and refreshing, I usually use garlic but ginger works just as well.
